While many people have gone glamping in the United States, its not the only place where the glamping craze has caught on. This time around, we are taking you to the plains of Africa, a place where luxury glamping is definitely something to consider as you plan or dream about a safari.
Nyati Safari Lodge is located in South Africa and is connected to the famous Kruger National Park. Have you heard of the Big Five? Me either, but let me explain - the "Big Five" is how hunters describe lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffaloes. And all are living within the park! The lodge offers this type of tour (among many different options) and once you are done with the game-drive, you head back to the lodge for drinks at the bar! Sounds like an amazing day, right?
The lodge has several different types of bungalows and all come with what you would expect at a typical luxury hotel. A pool is available for those days you don't want to be on safari as well as a spa for a little self-care. You are on vacation after all!
Safari chic is the name of the game at Sanctuary Retreats, located in Botswana. The designs are what you would typically see in a safari camp but here it comes with a modern twist, which we love. With only ten pavilions, you truly are enjoying private luxury. You can sit on your private deck and watch the wildlife while having a nice chilled glass of white wine. 🥂
There are plenty of activities to do away from the camp including a game drive or even a helicopter ride. And same thing here - a spa awaits those that want a little relaxation after a game drive before dinner at the newly remodeled dining area.
Lion Sands in South Africa, is located on the Sabie River and has a variety of lodges available on the property. River Lodge is our favorite and has 18 rooms available. While wifi is available, they do suggest a digital detox. 🤣🤣 The firepit lounge for evening drinks and star gazing is a perfect end to a day out on safari....and the South African wines that are featured are delicious. (Speaking of which, when you travel to South Africa, make sure to hit the wine country as well!!!)
Bucket lists are a good thing to have......it gives you things to check off a list and also gives you things to look forward to. We have always had the glamping experience in Africa on our list and we hope you are adding it your bucket list as well!
