New York City has hundreds of rooftop bars throughout the city, from Times Square to the Meatpacking District, you cannot go wrong with the ones listed below. Let's start having some cocktails!
Saint Cloud at the Knickerbocker Hotel is located in Times Square and is popular even with the locals. Named after the original hotel built in 1906, it has a great view of the bright lights of Times Square. This is the official party location for New Year’s Eve where only 150m away, you can view the famous crystal ball drop. For those that like vodka, we love the Lilly Blue and the Young & Beautiful is a delicious tequila drink. Cocktails here run around $24 range so while the drinks are a little pricey, the views are totally worth it.
Located on the 12th floor of the Dream Hotel Downtown PhD rooftop lounge is a must-go if you are in Chelsea or the Meatpacking District. If you are going to PhD at the beginning of your evening, grab some chips and guac or shashito peppers with spiced watermelon margarita. PhD turns into a club late at night so make sure you have your party shoes on. It will be sparklers & champagne as PhD turns into a fun nightclub and you can dance the night away!
Right down the street from the Dream Downtown is the Standard Hotel located in the trendy Meatpacking District. If you go to the top floor of the Standard, you have two options, literally a lounge called “Top of the Standard” which is one of the most glammy and beautiful bars in the city. However, we are talking about outside drinks, so on the other side, may we present LeBain. LeBain is a beautiful outside lounge perfect for an afternoon cocktail or to enjoy the sunset. The door gets a bit more challenging at night and the vibe turns more into a nightclub party, so make sure you dress the part to get past the bouncer.
Our final stop is way over on the east side right at 49th St. and First Avenue - the Ophelia Hotel. Technically called The Grand Terrace at 3 Mitchell Place, the bar is located on the 26th floor and has great views of Brooklyn and Long Island City. This is a year round rooftop, we love the cozy seating areas for two or four people. They have an extensive menu of your favorite bar foods with a twist and their cocktail menu prices range from $16-22. We love the Pain Killa - the combination of ginger, lemon, mezcal and tequila is amazing!!!!
So there you have it - these rooftop bars are a great start to explore what the city has to offer. For more recommendations on New York life and other fabulous places around the city, join the crew at
